Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 11, 2026 · Last updated: July 11, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how aloud (“aloud”, “the app”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles your information. aloud is a voice journaling app for iOS operated by Bautista Tancredi, an individual based in Argentina.

We built aloud to be a private place to reflect. This policy is written to be read, not skimmed past. If anything here is unclear, contact us at hello@usealoud.app.

The short version

  • Your journal is private to your account. No other user can see it.
  • We collect what the app needs to work: your voice recordings, the transcripts and summaries made from them, and a small amount of account and diagnostic data.
  • We never sell your data, we never use it for advertising, and the AI providers that transcribe and organize your entries do not use your data to train their models.
  • You can export your entries at any time, and deleting your account permanently erases everything we hold about you.

1. Who we are

aloud is operated by Bautista Tancredi, an individual sole developer based in Argentina (the “operator”, “we”). For any privacy question, request, or complaint, contact hello@usealoud.app.

2. What we collect

We only collect what is needed to provide the journaling experience.

Information you provide

  • Voice recordings (audio). The core of the app. When you record an entry, the audio is captured and stored so it can be transcribed and, if needed, re-processed.
  • Transcripts. Text generated from your recordings by a speech-to-text service.
  • Derived entry content. From each transcript we generate a title, summary, topics, an emotional-state label (positive / neutral / negative), an energy level (high / medium / low), and a reflection question. We also compute numeric embeddings of your entries to power memory search.
  • Corrections you make. If you adjust the emotional state or energy of an entry, we store your correction.

Account information

  • When you sign in with Sign in with Apple, we receive a stable account identifier and, depending on your Apple settings, your name and an email address (which may be a private Apple relay address). We use this only to create and secure your account.

Automatically collected information

  • Diagnostics and crash data to keep the app stable (see Sentry, below).
  • Aggregate, non-identifying usage analytics to understand which features are used (see TelemetryDeck, below). This is designed not to identify you.
  • Push notification token, only if you enable the daily reminder.
  • Subscription status. Whether you have an active subscription or trial. Payments are handled entirely by Apple — we never receive or store your card or payment details.

We do not collect your contacts, precise location, browsing history, or advertising identifiers, and aloud contains no third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.

3. How we use your information

We use your information solely to operate aloud:

  • Transcribe your recordings and organize them into structured entries.
  • Build your calendar, history, insights, weekly/monthly summaries, and memory search.
  • Send the daily reminder, if you turned it on.
  • Keep the app secure, diagnose crashes, and improve reliability.
  • Manage your subscription and provide support.

We do not use your journal content for advertising, we do not sell or rent it, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below, strictly to deliver these functions.

4. The services that process your data (subprocessors)

To run aloud we rely on a small set of trusted providers. Each receives only the data it needs, and only to perform its function for us.

Important: The AI providers we use (OpenAI and Anthropic) are accessed through their commercial APIs. Under those APIs’ terms, your content is not used to train their models — it is processed only to return the transcription or summary and is not retained by them for training purposes.

5. Where your data is stored and how it’s protected

Your data is stored on infrastructure operated by the providers above, primarily in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit. Your recordings, transcripts, and entries are scoped to your account and are not accessible to other users. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, but we work only with reputable providers and limit access to what is necessary.

Because our providers are located in the United States and elsewhere, using aloud involves the international transfer of your data outside Argentina. By using the app you consent to this transfer.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your recordings, transcripts, and entries for as long as your account exists, so your history stays available to you. When you delete an individual entry, its audio, transcript, and derived content are removed. When you delete your account, we permanently erase every recording, transcript, summary, embedding, and account record we hold, across our systems. Deletion is irreversible.

7. Your choices and rights

  • Access & export. You can export your entries at any time from within the app.
  • Correction. You can edit the emotional state and energy of entries.
  • Deletion. You can delete individual entries, or delete your entire account (Profile → Privacy & data → Delete account), which erases everything.
  • Notifications. You can disable the daily reminder at any time.
  • Microphone. aloud only records when you choose to; you can revoke microphone access in iOS Settings.

Depending on your location you may have additional rights (to access, rectify, delete, or restrict processing of your data, and to lodge a complaint with a data-protection authority). To exercise any right, email hello@usealoud.app.

8. Children

aloud is not directed to children. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher) to use the app. We do not knowingly collect data from children under this age. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. If we make a material change, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use after a change means you accept the revised policy.

10. Governing law

This policy is governed by the laws of the Argentine Republic, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
